Clues

Pikes were set into teams and told that they would be awarded points for individual efforts and some events would attract points for their team. These are the cryptic clues to be solved.

"Three Counties Tour" Cryptic Clues

  1. What sounds like a fireplace and must be perfectly spherical to do so.
Direct the driver there by the shortest possible route to gain maximum points.
  2. Head back to base, but replace the first word with J.M.Barrie's Pirate. The direct route involves finding a footpath opposite the church.
Upon arrival, find a place with a ring to it.
  3. Spoilt for choice? Leo the Commie or the paper that hates him.
Lets go where the alley is.
  4. This is the shortest leg of the journey, but that's far too easy. Pop next door and get each Pike a drink that starts with the same letter of his name. (Bob and Bryan must have different drinks.)
  5. We're seeing the Partridge's Yuletide roost. It's past the Y.C., on the way to the best captain.
  6. Find the path at Hayway's side. Go via royalty's racecourse, ask where to cross the river. One of the conqueror's lads will provide a final pint.
where is beer fashionable and why?
