CANOE POEM ONE

Poem ---- By George and Bob ---- Kinoulton2 2014 Blank verse and rhyme

As our paddles break the surface and our rafts were paddled by Adonis arms
The sunlight refracted upon the water like a carpet of diamonds
Our attention was on the birds, their charming chatter, their beating hardy breasts
and the rafts they were building
Memories flooded our mind's eyes with past conquests, past Pikes,
empty tankards, family parties so tranquil
and calm as our canoe slowly drifts starboard
to reveal the love, the affection and the commitment of
two swans shagging.

Paddle power we had from sturdy hands
Propulsion speed created bow wave bands
Fish dived for depths below silky green waves
Fearful of monsters with paddling staves.

It was only us Pikehands some slim some stout
Ahoy there my hearties about about
There could be collisions for guys with our skills
The fish were OK 'cause They all had gills

Our Pikes though had the safety of bouyancey aids
Displaying as comrades the men of the braves
The boats were a rocking but remained afloat
So; Sit down! Sit down! Sit down! Sit down! Sit down! You're rocking the boat.
